Tympanoplasty

What is tympanoplasty?

Tympanoplasty is microsurgery to reconstruct a ruptured or perforated eardrum, often using the patient’s own tissues.

How should I prepare my child?

Your doctor will give you very specific instructions about how to prepare for this procedure. Please follow those directions exactly.

 What should I expect?

  1. This procedure is most often performed under general anesthesia for your child’s safety and comfort
  2. This procedure is usually done as an outpatient and your child will likely go home the same day
