RECIST Core
Imaging plays a major and growing role in noninvasively assessing cancer biology in pre-clinical studies and clinical trials.
RECIST (Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors) is a program developed in 2009 to meet the requirements outlined in oncology research trial protocols, mandating a 2nd radiology read, which follows specific guidelines, be performed to assist in the assessment of a patient’s response to that study’s treatment protocol/chemotherapy.
This read is performed independent of and in addition to the clinical read, providing an assessment of response to treatment, following measurable and non-measurable disease.
The RECIST Core was set up in iLabs as a vehicle to create an invoice for RECIST reads performed; creating a billing event. Each research study receives an invoice generated from iLabs for review and approval. It is also a resource for overview of the RECIST program, accessible by each study and the department of radiology.
