The Community Psychiatry Program at The Johns Hopkins Hospital offers a wide range of outpatient mental health and related services to adults living in the Baltimore area. Staff also treat Johns Hopkins employees and patients receiving other outpatient medical care who are in need of psychiatric services. Outpatient services are designed to serve young adults to elderly persons with clinics, mobile treatment, and outreach programs, as well as specialized programs to reach specific groups within the community. This clinic provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric services for older adolescents and adults living in the Baltimore area. Individual and group therapy as well as medication management services are provided by a staff of 14 full-time therapists, nurses, and attending psychiatrists. Individual treatment plans are developed according to each patient's needs. Additionally the clinic has a bilingual therapist who provides individual therapy services to older adolescent and adult patients whose primary language is Spanish and these patients also have access to medication management through interpreter services.
The program does not deny services based on inability to pay. Individuals can apply for financial aid through the hospital which can cover the cost of care up to 100% for eligible individuals.Location

The Intensive Outpatient Program is designed to serve patients being seen by the Outpatient Clinic or patients being discharged from the psychiatry inpatient units who require a higher level of care than can be provided in regular outpatient visits. Four therapists, a nurse, an attending psychiatrist, and several psychiatric resident doctors provide medication management as well as individual and group therapy three mornings a week.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) services are designed specifically for adults with major mental illness who are unable to participate in clinic settings. A team of nurses, therapists, a case manager, attending psychiatrists and psychiatric resident physicians provide medication management, supportive individual and group psychotherapy, and case management services. Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) services are delivered in the patient's home or in appropriate community settings when necessary.
