Our Approach to Nerve Tumors

Our peripheral nerve surgeons have vast experience treating even the rarest and most complex nerve tumors, using precise surgical techniques to remove the tumor and preserve optimal function.

Several types of tumors can grow within the spine and peripheral nerves, including:

  • Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST)
  • Neurofibromas
  • Schwannomas

The Peripheral Nerve Surgery Center team works closely with experts at the Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Center, one of the only centers in the world helping patients with NF1, NF2 and schwannomatosis, genetic diseases that put patients at greater risk of developing neurofibromas and schwannomas.

For patients with MPNST, a type of soft-tissue sarcoma, our team collaborates with specialists from the Sarcoma Center to address all aspects of these rare tumors.
