A Woman’s Journey Program Showcases New Insights on Women’s Health with Johns Hopkins Medicine Experts

Since 1995, A Woman’s Journey has brought women and women’s health experts together to empower women to make informed decisions about health and health care for both themselves and their loved ones.

At two upcoming A Woman’s Journey programs in Florida, this tradition will continue. Following a brunch, Johns Hopkins Medicine experts will share the latest on advancements in women’s health, offering new insights on preventive care, plant-based nutrition and estrogen.

The first event is at the St. Petersburg Marriott Clearwater hotel on Thursday, March 2, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The second event is at the Westin Sarasota on Friday, March 3, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Each event will include the same experts and lectures.

The scheduled programming is as follows:

  • Your Health AgendaGail Berkenblit, M.D., Ph.D., an internist and an associate professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, shares changes in the preventive care guidelines for mammograms, Pap smears, colonoscopies, and other screenings and vaccinations.
  • Eat to Beat the Odds: Johns Hopkins clinical dietician Jaclyn Rose reviews the benefits of a plant-based diet, why plant-based foods are so important for overall health and methods to incorporate such foods into a diet.
  • The Surprising Role of Estrogen in Peri-menopausal Women: Wen Shen, M.D., M.P.H., a gynecologist and an associate professor of gynecology and obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, explores how the loss of estrogen impacts multiple organs and processes in the human body, and appropriate use of estrogen treatments to improve health.
