The Johns Hopkins FND program was created by neuropsychologist Alison Buchholz, rehabilitation psychologist Eva Keatley and neurologist Jason Chua after working separately and together serving patients who have functional neurological disorder (FND). The group noticed there were major gaps in how people with FND were being diagnosed, treated and cared for within and outside of the Johns Hopkins Health System. These gaps, which are well recognized by the FND community and clinicians who serve these patients, can lead to more disability and higher health care costs. Drs. Buchholz, Keatley and Chua were driven to create a better, more effective way of helping patients with FND.
The mission of the Johns Hopkins FND program is to close gaps in care and improve long-term outcomes for people with FND. We do this by offering comprehensive, team-based and up-to-date approaches to care that are based on the latest research and best practices.
