The Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion
Affordable Housing for Cancer Care Patients at Johns Hopkins Hospital
The Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion, part of the Kimmel Cancer Center, provides affordable housing for adult patients getting treatment at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Located right next to the Orleans Garage on the hospital campus, the Pavilion is open 24/7 and offers a supportive, home-like atmosphere. It’s a comfortable and welcoming alternative to staying in a hotel when you need specialized medical care.

In order to provide safe and comfortable housing for our patients and their caregivers the following are requirements during a stay at The Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion:
- The patient is receiving treatment at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
- The patient has a caregiver, over 18 years of age, who has agreed to stay for the duration of treatment.
- The patient and caregiver have a permanent residence and will supply their identification card or other proof of residence.
- The patient with assistance of a caregiver is able to care for themselves and evacuate the premises in case of an emergency.
- Each room accommodates a maximum of two guests. One patient and one caregiver. Two caregivers permitted if the patient is in-patient.
- A credit card is required at room confirmation. All major credit cards are accepted.
- The patient is receiving treatment at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

- Suites at $60 per night
- Apartments at $87 per night
- For those who have a car, parking is an additional $4 per day
- Accommodations are prioritized based on a reserve list.

- The Johns Hopkins Hospital campus is tobacco and alcohol-free. Use of any related products is not allowed in the Pavilion. Violation will result in immediate loss of housing.
- Carrying or use of any weapon on the premises of Johns Hopkins Hospital is prohibited including possession of any ammunition.
- Pets are not permitted.
- Visitors are welcome in the public spaces on the first floor of the Pavilion.
- Candles, incense, portable heaters, furniture, air fryers and hot plates are not permitted.

Michelle Steely is the Operations Manager of Residential Living at the Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion. She received her Baccalaureate degree in Healthcare Management from American InterContinental University. She is a member of Chesapeake Area Society of Healthcare Engineering and Healthcare Hospitality Network. She has particular interest in best practices in healthcare hospitality.

Joanne McMillan, Housing Referral Coordinator
Joanne McMillan serves as the Housing Referral Coordinator and welcomes all visitors to the Patient and Family Services Suite. She handles guest reservations for the Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion and provides information and referral assistance to other regional hotels, furnished and unfurnished apartments and the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge.
