Child Life CCTV Internship

The Child Life staff at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center includes a video/TV producer and a special events coordinator. Facilities include an editing studio and a closed-circuit station that broadcasts to all rooms throughout the hospital. Child Life TV offers a “hands on” internship experience in both live shows and video projects.

Live Shows

Director/Producers

  • Coordinate with staff
  • Facilitate participation of children
  • Generate live shows and opportunities to host

Operating video/audio equipment

  • Transport and set-up of equipment
  • Operate the following: video camera, switcher, character generator, microphones, audio mixer
  • Break down of equipment and maintenance

Video Projects

Types of projects

  • Videos for sale: for education (used in schools or within Johns Hopkins Children’s Center) and facilities of higher learning
  • Documentaries of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center events and entertainment for children in the hospital
  • Production of training videos for staff, hospitalized children, families and volunteers

  • Preproduction planning
  • Scriptwriting
  • Shooting on location as well as in studio
  • Editing, using AVID-Media Composer 1000
  • Dubbing
