The Dean of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (SoM) created the Office of the Vice Dean to ensure that members of the School of Medicine on the Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus can fully benefit from and contribute to the School’s tripartite mission of education, research and patient care.

School of Medicine Departmental Leadership

Bayview Advisory Board (BAB)

The board consists of Johns Hopkins Bayview leadership, department chairs and administration. The BAB meets monthly to discuss intercampus matters pertinent to our teaching hospital including faculty development, research promotion and clinical integration.

Bayview Scientific Advisory Board (BSAB)

The goal of the Johns Hopkins Bayview Scientific Advisory Board is to foster innovative and collaborative research programs at Johns Hopkins Bayview. The BSAB maintains relationships with the National Institute on Aging and the National Institute on Drug Abuse located on the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus.

The advisory board is composed of faculty from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine selected by board co-chairs Nadia Hansel, M.D., MPH, and Jacky Jennings, MPH, Ph.D. For more information on Johns Hopkins Bayview’s research themes, please visit the BSAB website, or email Dr. Hansel.

Annual Johns Hopkins Bayview Research Symposium

This symposium highlights the breadth of research and discovery being conducted at Johns Hopkins Bayview. All faculty, staff and students are invited to participate by submitting an abstract or attending the keynote lecture. This event is usually held in December at the Asthma & Allergy Building.

Out of the Lab Seminar Series

This monthly lecture series was created by the Bayview Scientific Advisory Board to foster collaborative research on campus. These seminars highlight substantive research advances. For more information on the speaker schedule, please email [email protected].

Office of Faculty Development

There is a branch of the SoM’s Office of Faculty Development at Johns Hopkins Bayview.

Office of Graduate Medical Education

The Office of Graduate Medical Education provides services and interprets policies that apply to clinical training programs and their trainees. The Associate Dean and office staff interface with clinical training program directors and department chairs, as well as with the House Staff Council and individual trainees. The Assistant Dean for Compliance works with training program directors to interpret, implement, and insure compliance with ACGME and GMEC policies. Clinicians and Innovators

The Johns Hopkins Center for Innovative Medicine

The Johns Hopkins Center for Innovative Medicine (CIM) at Johns Hopkins Bayview was established in 2005 by David Hellmann, M.D., to make medicine a better public trust. Projects have focused on developing innovative clinical centers for excellence, teaching foundational principles of medical education and engaging our community to decrease disparities in healthcare.

The CIM includes members from both inside and outside the halls of academic medicine and includes scientists, educators, clinicians and administrators. Guiding this internal team is an International Advisory Board of external advocates who enthusiastically believe in and support the CIM’s mission.

Armstrong Institute at Bayview

The Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality at Johns Hopkins Bayview promotes research aimed at eliminating preventable harm, improving patient outcomes and experiences, and reducing waste in health care.

University Staff and Students

Employee and Student Shuttles

On weekdays, a courtesy shuttle transports employees and students between the Johns Hopkins Bayview and Homewood campuses.

Wellness Program

Neda Gould, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, offers mindfulness training at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Multimedia Services

The Office of the Vice Dean employs a Multimedia Manager who serves as the technology liaison with Johns Hopkins Bayview Information Services to support technology, multimedia, SOM events, marketing and education on the Bayview Campus.
