The life stages of childhood, adolescence, pregnancy, and the post-partum period are associated with specific biological characteristics that have ramifications for dosing, safety, and efficacy of infectious diseases treatments. Additionally, because they are historically underrepresented in studies, guidelines for preventing and treating infectious diseases among these populations are often based on data from studies involving only the general adult, non-pregnant population. Our research explores the biological nuances to inform treatment strategies that are more precise, effective, and safe during these life stages.
