We understand the need for imaging exams for timely decision-making, and we always try to ensure patient care needs are met. As part of this process, a new ordering level has been developed to help triage these needs. ASAP can now be selected for patients who require an earlier appointment for medical decision-making but who are not STAT. STAT orders should be reserved for exams with a potential for critical results that could result in harm within hours or days if not treated. Q: Do all Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging sites offer 2D and 3D mammograms?
A: Yes, at Johns Hopkins we offer 2D and 3D digital mammography. We strongly encourage 3D mammography for its superior imaging qualities as it allows the radiologist to see the breast layer by layer, enhance fine details, and minimize overlapping tissue. 3D mammography can be taken at the same time as traditional 2D mammography without any significant time addition.
