Howard County General Hospital Welcomes New Board Members

Columbia, MD – Howard County General Hospital: A Member of Johns Hopkins Medicine (HCGH) is pleased to welcome to its Board of Trustees Jody Buffington Aud, Jeanette T. Nazarian, M.D., and Kevin Sowers.
Jody Buffington Aud is currently the director for leader communications for global operations at Astrazeneca and has extensive experience in internal and corporate communications. A longtime Howard County resident, Aud is a national and local leader and has served on the boards of Leadership Howard County, the American Red Cross of Central Maryland and the Public Relations Society of America. Aud received a bachelor’s degree in English, journalism and education from the University of Richmond and a master’s degree in public relations from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Jeanette T. Nazarian, M.D., is the vice president of the HCGH Professional Staff. She joined the hospital staff in 2012 and is the director of the Intensive Care and Special Care Units. Nazarian received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She also completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Kevin Sowers, MSN, RN, FAAN, is the new president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Prior to his arrival, Sowers served as president of Duke University Hospital. Prior to becoming president, he served as chief operating officer at the hospital and interim chief executive officer of Durham Regional Hospital. He also has held a variety of senior administrative positions across Duke University Health System. He began his career at Duke University Hospital as a staff nurse in oncology. Sowers earned his bachelor’s degree from Capital University School of Nursing and his master’s degree of science from Duke University School of Nursing. He has published extensively and speaks nationally and abroad on issues such as leadership, organizational change, mentorship, and cancer care.
