HCGH recognizes the importance of life-long education and training. Employees who work 30 to 40 hours per week may receive up to $3, 000 per year for career-related undergraduate courses or $5,000 per year for career-related graduate courses, all at accredited colleges or universities. The maximum annual benefit is $10,000 for each dependent, maximum of two children per employee at one time and limited to four years of full-time undergraduate study per child. The benefit is taxable. Scholarships for qualified employees in an approved nursing program are also available, $3,000 per year or $6,000 per year for an accelerated program. The Hoerichs Nursing Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for employees or their children to complete two clinical years of the nursing education program at Howard Community College.

Employees who work 20 to 40 hours per week accrue annual leave on a pro-rated basis depending on the number of hours worked. The amount of leave an employee accrues increases the longer he’s employed and each employee must complete 120 days of employment before he is eligible to use accrued annual leave.

HCGH offers free basic life insurance equivalent to one time your annual salary. Additional coverage may be purchased by the employee. HCGH pays 100 percent of the cost of short-term disability for employees who elect that coverage. Long-term disability insurance is offered at the employee’s expense and covers 60 percent of basic monthly earnings after six months of disability.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts allow employees to set money aside on a pre-tax basis to help pay for health care and dependent care expenses not covered by insurance. Employees can contribute according to IRS regulations.
