Mission Statement

Promote both diversity and inclusion within Johns Hopkins Medicine by championing various initiatives that foster the following goals at various levels of the institution:

  • Community Engagement
  • Mentorship and Sponsorship
  • Inclusive Culture Climate
  • Scholastic Achievements

Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity

Involves equitable recruitment and matriculation of individuals of unique race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs and other ideologies.

As it related to medical workforce recruitment and matriculation, our focus is on the equitable engagement of individuals who are under-represented in medicine (URM), as defined by the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Inclusion

Involves the retention, satisfaction, sense of belonging, and feeling of being both valued and respected amongst those from various diverse backgrounds.
