The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program's mission is to develop leaders and innovators in the field of cardiovascular disease. This includes creating leaders in clinical cardiovascular medicine, discovery and dissemination.
Our award-winning faculty members are dedicated to providing fellows ongoing mentorship as they become well-rounded in academics, clinical care and leaders in the field of cardiovascular disease.
Program Information
The Johns Hopkins Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program provides fellows the opportunity to diversify their skillset in cardiovascular disease management through rigorous training, academic research and mentorship from our faculty.

Each fellow in our program receives a diverse clinical experience in the following fields:
- Echocardiography
- Electrophysiology
- Cardiac Care Unit
- General cardiology
- Catheter interventions
- Heart failure
- Cardiovascular disease prevention and consult service
- Cardiothoracic surgery
- Cardiovascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CVSICU)
- Congenital heart disease
- Right heart catheterization (RHC)
- Cardiac CT/MRI/Nuclear/PET Imaging
- Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
- Women's Health

During the research experience, each fellow works closely with a mentor(s) who will help further the fellow’s research interests. All fellows are expected to participate in a research project that they will present to the Division. Additionally, our fellows receive funding to attend at least one scientific conference a year.

We provide ongoing mentorship for each of our fellows. Our program strives to uphold the Johns Hopkins tradition of clinical excellence, teaching and research. We have a strong history of preparing leaders in the field of academic cardiology, providing them with the tools to become skilled clinicians as well as providing outstanding experience in the field of cardiovascular research.
All fellows are paired with at least three mentors, although many fellows report having several more mentors which may include:

Start your journey at Johns Hopkins by applying for the cardiology fellowship program. All fellowship applications are processes through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). We accept applications only through ERAS, beginning of each recruitment season.

We take fellows only through the National Residency Match Program for Cardiovascular Disease. Interventional Cardiology, Heart Failure/Transplant and Electrophysiology.

- Cardiovascular Disease: 8
- Interventional Cardiology: 3
- Electrophysiology: 3
- Heart Failure/Transplant: 2

Listed below is the length of each fellowship program:
- Cardiovascular Disease: Minimum of 3 years with optional 4th year
- Interventional Cardiology: 1 year
- Electrophysiology: 2 years

Our Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program has a new early research track that allows you to start research in your second year of fellowship instead of your third year. You have to be selected by a committee in your first year to participate in this track.
