Training
Cardiology

Johns Hopkins Cardiology aims to train future leaders in the field of cardiovascular medicine and research through a wide-ranging portfolio of fellowship programs. Currently, there are five ACGME-accredited training programs:
- advanced heart failure and transplant
- adult congenital heart disease
- cardiovascular disease
- clinical cardiac electrophysiology
- interventional cardiology
There are additional, non-ACGME accredited, fellowship and training pathways, such as:
- Advanced Echo
- Cardiac Imaging
- Cardiac Critical Care
- Sports Cardiology
Across all programs, fellows learn within a structured curriculum from our world-renowned faculty, gaining exposure to innovative clinical care, research and innovation. Our cardiology fellows train across multiple clinical sites in the Baltimore region, allowing them to experience diverse patient populations and care settings.
Cardiac Surgery

Johns Hopkins is dedicated to providing trainees with an outstanding education that will prepare them for a successful and rewarding career in cardiothoracic surgery. We’re training future leaders with an ACGME-approved traditional fellowship program, as well as an accelerated 4+3 program in coordination with general surgery and an additional non-ACGME fellowships in heart failure.
The program has been in existence since the 1940s, graduating two fellows per year, with a total of 129 graduates to date. Our program provides excellent clinical exposure, offering two to three times the number of cases required. Graduates obtain ABTS certification and pursue a mix of academic and nonacademic practice.
