Nicholas Jabre, M.D., M.S.
Dr. Nicholas Jabre is a pediatric pulmonologist and serves as the medical director of the Pediatric Home Ventilator Program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. He specializes in caring for children with chronic respiratory failure and technology dependence, including those with tracheostomies who require home mechanical ventilation. In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Jabre is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and an affiliate of the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. Dr. Jabre is dedicated to providing compassionate, family-centered care. He partners closely with parents and caregivers through shared decision-making, with a focus on understanding each child’s unique needs and supporting the family’s goals, values, and quality of life.
Patricia Blake, RRT, RPFT, AE-C
Patricia Blake, RRT, RPFT, AE-C, is a respiratory therapist in the Pediatric Home Ventilator Clinic in the Pulmonology Program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 1991. She earned her degree in respiratory care from the California College for Health Sciences, and degree in Business Administration and Management from St. Petersburg College.
Christina Costa, M.S., CCC-SLP
Christina Costa, M.S., CCC-SLP, CLC, is a speech-language pathologist in the Pediatric Home Ventilator Clinic in the Pulmonology Program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2006. She specializes in evaluating and treating patients for use of the Passy Muir Valve as part of their care in the ventilator clinic, supporting communication and swallowing outcomes for pediatric patients with tracheostomy and ventilator dependence. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Asbury University, and Master of Science in communication sciences and disorders from the University of South Florida.
Norma Kocis Gorecki, M.S., CCC-SLP, CLC
Norma is a highly experienced Speech-Language Pathologist with over 25 years of clinical practice and a Certified Lactation Consultant. Throughout her career, she has worked across diverse settings, including early intervention programs (ages 0–3), public school systems, and pediatric inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. For 18 years, Norma owned and operated a successful private practice in Huntington, New York, providing specialized services to children with speech and language disorders. Currently, Norma serves at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, where she evaluates and treats infants and pediatric patients with feeding and swallowing disorders, tracheostomies and ventilator dependence, traumatic brain injuries, and aerodigestive conditions. She is also an active member of three collaborative multidisciplinary clinics—Tracheostomy/Ventilator, Pulmonary, and Intestinal Rehabilitation—where she contributes her expertise to support complex pediatric care.
Lori Harwood, R.N., BSN
Lori Harwood, R.N., BSN, is a nurse coordinator in the Pediatric Home Ventilator Clinic in the Pulmonology Program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2022. She works closely with patients, families and providers to ensure comprehensive care for each patient, evaluates and coordinates patient needs for durable medical equipment, helps to educate patients and families on their child’s treatment and plan of care, and assists families in accessing community resources for hurricane preparedness. She has more than 30 years of experience as a registered nurse, and most recently was a registered nurse at Dayton Children’s Hospital. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University in Columbus.
Callie Horne, M.S., R.D., LDN
Callie Horne, M.S., R.D., LDN is a registered dietitian in the Pediatric Home Ventilator Clinic in the Pulmonology Program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2024. She provides medical nutrition therapy in the outpatient setting, providing individualized nutrition counseling for patients with complex medical conditions. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics from the University of Mississippi, and her Master of Nutrition Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Kirsten McConnell, BSN, R.N., CPN
Kirsten McConnell, BSN, R.N., CPN, is a nurse coordinator in the Ventilator Clinic in the Pulmonology Program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2022. She has previously worked as a registered nurse in other hospital settings and as a travel nurse. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Minnesota.
Samantha Urich, B.S., RRT-CPFT
Samantha Urich, B.S., RRT-CPFT, is a respiratory therapist in the Pediatric Home Ventilator Clinic in the Pulmonology Program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She originally joined the hospital staff in 2017 providing inpatient care and transitioned to an outpatient role in 2023. Her roles in the ventilator clinic include collecting and gathering data, such as exhaled carbon dioxide levels, patient ventilator settings, and patient ventilator measurements, discussing findings and collaborating with the provider to make appropriate ventilator adjustments, assessing patient’s tracheostomies and collecting sputum samples when necessary, and helping troubleshoot ventilator alarms or ventilator questions from family members and/or caregivers.
