Preparing for Your Visit
To help you prepare for your visit, we’ve prepared an inpatient stay guide for patients and families. This guide provides you with information about our caregivers, facilities, routines and policies at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and the many resources that are available to you. Child Life Specialists
Specially trained child life specialists provide psychosocial support to patients and their families. They teach coping strategies, offer pain management techniques and help communicate needs to the rest of your child’s care team.
Craniofacial conditions are now commonly diagnosed before a child is born. Our pediatric plastic surgeons are happy to meet with expecting parents when a diagnosis of a craniofacial condition is made to help you understand what to expect when your baby is born. For example, if your baby will need cleft lip repair, we will go over with you what that entails, including treatments and timelines. This helps to ease your concerns so you can enjoy the birth of your child and plan for future care.
MyChart, a free online service, gives you easy access to your child’s medical information. It can help you stay informed and proactive about your child’s health.
