Why did you choose to pursue a PGY2 pediatric residency?
I knew before starting my PGY1 that I wanted to pursue a career in pediatric pharmacy. Throughout residency, that passion was reinforced as I had the opportunity to care for children with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. I enjoy the complexity of pediatric pharmacotherapy, the collaborative nature of pediatric care, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for both patients and their families. My experiences also introduced me to several areas of pediatric practice, including emergency response, transplant, and hematology/oncology, which further strengthened my desire to pursue advanced pediatric training. A PGY2 will allow me to continue building my clinical skills while preparing for a career caring for medically complex pediatric patients.
What drew you to the pharmacy residency program at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital?
Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital stood out to me because of its strong commitment to clinical excellence, education, and patient-centered care. I was especially drawn to the wide variety of learning opportunities available across pediatric specialties, as well as the program's emphasis on mentorship and progressive autonomy. After completing my PGY1 within the Johns Hopkins Health System, I have come to appreciate the culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. I am excited for the opportunity to continue my training at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital while further developing as a pediatric clinical pharmacist.
