Nursing Magnet Designation
In 2003, The Johns Hopkins Hospital became the first health care organization in Maryland to achieve the Magnet Recognition Program designation for excellence in nursing practice. Magnet Recognition was awarded again in 2008 for another five-year term. The highest honor bestowed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Magnet status affirms the evidenced-based practice and spirit of innovation and collaboration that characterizes nursing at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Consumer’s Choice
It’s not only a national and international reputation that counts. What local patients think is equally important. For 11 straight years, The Johns Hopkins Hospital has received the Consumer Choice Award for the
Baltimore region from the National Research Corporation. NRC, a firm specializing in health care performance measurement, annually honors the hospitals that local consumers rate as having the best quality and image, based on a survey of more than 200,000 households in 80 U.S. markets. Hopkins was one of only a few hospitals nationwide to earn top-choice status in a multi-market region.

Top Medical School
Once again, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine has retained its top-tier ranking in U.S.News & World Report's edition on the best graduate schools in the nation.

In the 2010 report, the school ranked as it has for many years #2 among U.S. medical schools.

In addition to the overall ranking, USN&WR recognizes a number of specialty programs, a list based on results of a survey among peer institution deans and senior faculty across the country. The school continues as #1 in geriatrics, moves up to #1 for internal medicine and is ranked #2 in AIDS and #4 in drug/alcohol abuse, pediatrics and women’s health. The biomedical engineering program once again is ranked #1.  For a complete list and methodology of the rankings, visit U.S.News & World Report.
