Diagnostic Radiology

Digital Radiography Suite

Diagnostic imaging includes many procedures, including digital fluoroscopic studies (of the gastro intestinal tract), chest and extremity x-ray exams. Exams are available twenty four hours a day. Two diagnostic imaging rooms adjacent to the emergency department and two rooms in the main imaging department ensure patients are efficiently seen. Only licensed professionals with extensive training in their specialty perform diagnostic procedures. Johns Hopkins Bayview constantly strives to provide an environment that supports professional development and focuses on customers needs.

Some exams require preparation prior to the studies. Gastrointestinal tract exams require fasting or laxatives. Patients also should ensure that their primary physicians are aware that they are or may be pregnant.

Modern x-ray equipment, which is upgraded regularly, is used to perform studies.
