Outpatient Services

The Behavioral Outpatient Mental Health Services program offers a comprehensive clinical continuum by providing the least restrictive, most effective level of care to individuals and their families. To support a successful discharge or avert hospitalization by providing intensive outpatient programming are our goals. These services are intended to complement concurrent individual therapy.

Clients need to be referred by a provider, Emergency Department or an inpatient unit.

Referral Process

From an inpatient facility, the discharge planner will contact the program staff to coordinate a referral.

From the community, providers (therapist, psychiatrist or primary care physician) can request a referral form to refer you to the program via fax or email by calling 301-896-2586. We also require a physical exam within 30 days of the program start. Please call our office at 301-896-2586 so we can provide you with our history and physical forms by email or fax. Once we have both the referral form and physical exam results, your information will be reviewed by the staff. If we have any questions, we will contact your provider, and you will be contacted at a later date for an intake assessment.

Family Support Group

This group is open to family members of patients who are enrolled in the PHP or IOP. The group meets every other Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John E. Herman Outpatient Behavioral Health Suite on the 4th floor. This program is free of charge and is designed for family members to support each other and learn about the program.
