Bethesda, Md., (May 28, 2013)– On Saturday, June 22, Suburban Hospital will host “Ready, Set, Grow!” a FREE, on-site kids’ festival from 1 to 4pm at 8600 Old Georgetown Road. The event will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of pediatrics at the hospital and recognize generous funding from the Shaw Family Foundation. The innovative emergency and inpatient children’s unit will be rededicated as the Shaw Family Pediatric Emergency Center.
The “Ready, Set, Grow!” festival will highlight the importance of healthy lifestyles for kids with interactive dance and karate workshops, a healthy cooking demonstration, sports competitions, health and safety exhibits, and behind-the-scenes tours. Activities will also include carnival games and prizes, face painting, a magic show, a raffle drawing, refreshments and more!
Representatives from the Washington Redskins, the Washington Spirit women’s soccer team and Bethesda Big Train baseball, as well as Miss Teen Maryland, will be on hand for autographs. Local youth artists will be recognized for participation in an elementary school “healthy kids” mural competition, as well as for individual painting submissions, which may be selected to decorate patient rooms. Free parking is available.
