When I was diagnosed with breast cancer 20 years ago, it was certainly an eye-opener. I was very fortunate to have the support and resources to access the treatment I needed. Many women are not so lucky and I wanted to do something to help.

As a member of Lakewood Country Club and an avid golfer, I have had the pleasure of meeting a group of women golfers who are dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer and supporting the cause through fundraising. We have raised almost $400,000 for research, technology and innovation in breast cancer treatment.

This year, we hosted a golf tournament that raised more than $17,000 that we are donating to Suburban Hospital to support breast cancer programs. Primarily, it will help women-in-need recently diagnosed with breast cancer who may need financial assistance as they start on the road to treatment.

Choosing Suburban was a natural fit for me since I have built relationships with staff and physicians at the Cancer Center. Being able to do something that helps provide women with opportunity and hope is gratifying. I will never forget those who helped me along the way. By helping women-in-need through this donation to support breast cancer programs at Suburban, I am doing something that helps others in their journey to win the fight against breast cancer.
