Clinical Pastoral Education Program

Sibley Memorial Hospital's Department of Chaplaincy Services is offering Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), an accredited program under the guidance of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education. First-time students who complete the program will receive one credit of Level 1 CPE, equal to 400 combined clinical and educational hours in CPE.

This educational-theological program includes a focus on pastoral formation, competence and reflection for those interested in deepening pastoral-spiritual care and chaplaincy skills. The CPE program is the first step for earning chaplain certification in any of the national cognate groups. In addition to patient clinical hours and on-call participation, CPE students participate in structured group settings, patient verbatim reports and educational lectures and seminars.
