Johns Hopkins Sarcoidosis Center

About Our Practice

The Sarcoidosis Center at Johns Hopkins was established by Dr. Carol J. Johns and is one of the longest-tenured centers devoted to the evaluation and management of patients with known or suspected sarcoidosis in the United States. The World Association of Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous disorders (WASOG) has designated our program as a Sarcoidosis Center of Excellence. The Sarcoidosis Center welcomes patients with sarcoidosis in all its forms, including:

  • Common manifestations of sarcoidosis, such as in the lung, eye and skin
  • Less common manifestations, including the brain, heart, liver, bone and kidney

Scheduling an Appointment

Prior to scheduling an appointment in our clinic it is necessary to have your records available to our team for review. This comprehensive records review is a critical step to ensure we understand your health care needs, have available the relevant information needed to devise an individualized treatment plan for you, and have a productive initial clinical visit in our Sarcoidosis Center.

Therefore, we ask that you have your referral and medical records faxed to 410-367-2711. It is important to include the following: clinical notes, pathology/biopsy results, imaging reports (including CTs, PET scans, and MRIs), lab results, other tests results as applicable (such as pulmonary function tests, echocardiograms). A complete list of recommended records can be found here.

At this time, the wait time for new patient appointments is 4-6 months.

If you have any questions regarding our records review process, please call our office coordinator at 410-550-2838.

If you are interested in being seen by the Neurosarcoidosis team, please call 443-997-1497. Additional information regarding resources at Johns Hopkins for patients with sarcoidosis involving the heart (cardiac sarcoidosis) can be found on the Johns Hopkins Cardiology website.
