Background: Pletch is the Clinical Nurse Specialist of the Inpatient and Day Hospital Eating Disorders Program at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and is intimately involved in most aspects of assuring and providing quality patient care. She coordinates and provides direct care for complex, medically compromised patients and provides education for multidisciplinary staff regarding eating disorders and specific treatment issues. She has authored patient and staff education manuals and tools. She is involved in Eating Disorder Research at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is a clinical instructor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and serves on numerous unit, department, hospital and entity wide committees.

She attended Virginia Commonwealth University – Medical College of Virginia receiving a B.S. in both Psychology and Nursing and a Masters Degree in Psychiatric Nursing. She is active in community outreach and education presenting at national and international professional conferences and nursing schools, as well as lecturing community/professional organizations and schools about the prevention, identification, and treatment of eating disorders.
