Our Services

Support for Patients, Care Teams, and Staff

TAP Navigators are located at participating clinics and hospitals in Baltimore and are committed to providing excellent customer service and compassionate support for patients, care teams, and staff.

Navigators help patients apply to the program, manage their referrals, and coordinate appointments, medical reviews, and financial clearance.

Specialty Care

TAP can facilitate:

  • Medically necessary care such as diagnostic radiology, specialized lab work, subspecialty care and related procedures, and diabetic eye exams
  • Under some circumstances, breast reduction, bariatric surgery, varicose vein surgery, tubal ligation, and vasectomy procedures

TAP cannot approve:

  • Services that do not meet medical necessity standards (such as cosmetic or elective procedures)
  • Services that can otherwise be delivered by primary care providers (such as cancer screening)
  • Imaging services or labs provided by outside providers
  • Prescription medications
  • Durable medical equipment
  • Home care services
  • Dialysis
  • Imaging services from external providers
  • General GYN care or infertility treatment
  • Routine vision and dental care

Who is eligible for TAP services?

TAP services are available only to patients at participating Johns Hopkins-affiliated hospitals and clinics who meet certain criteria related to insurance status, residency, financial status, and medical needs.

Broadly, eligible patients also:

  • Are permanently uninsurable
  • Have been a Maryland resident for at least 12 months
  • Have an income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
  • Do not have an active travel visa
