Personal Stories from Our Alumni

A collection of more than 100 personal statements from former residents and fellows who trained in the Johns Hopkins Department of Neurology is the basis for the final chapter of Johns Hopkins Neurology: Half a Century of Innovation.

Alumni were invited to write a brief account of how Johns Hopkins prepared them for their careers and influenced their intellectual growth. They also listed their most important scientific publications and honors that they had received. Many have gone on to become leaders in their fields. Accounts are listed alphabetically here, but in the printed book, they are in chronological order. 

What emerges is a unique history of the department’s development, each statement bearing a personal stamp and description of an epoch, and its evolution into “a magical place of learning and discovery.”
