The Medical Education Pathway is designed to prepare residents for a career in medical education by training participants in curriculum development, education scholarship, leadership and administration, teaching, and other relevant skills.

About the Program

The Department of Medicine provides a pathway for physicians within the Osler Medical Residency and the Bayview Internal Medicine Residency to develop robust careers geared toward improving medical education and has created a vigorous educational environment with strong mentorship and support.

Upon completion of the Medical Education Pathway, participants will have developed skills in the following 7 core domains:

Pathway Structure

Participants will engage in a structured ‘boot-camp’ early in junior year, followed by a longitudinal curriculum that will utilize didactics, peer coaching, direct observations and formal mentorship from medical education faculty. Participants will also rotate on medical education electives, during which they will hone the skills they have learned in the pathway, and will complete an education-focused scholarly project.
