The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center offers a weekend retreat for patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer and their partner or a family member. The retreat, held at Bon Secours Retreat and Conference Center in Marriottsville, Md., provides patients and partners an opportunity to network with others facing the same challenges. Activities and talks cover areas like nutrition, spirituality, discussions with cancer experts and crafts. The program is designed to ease psychological distress for patients and their families and to facilitate interactions in an environment that is comfortable and conducive to frank discussions about emotional impact of pancreas cancer on the patient, spouse and other family members.
The program is offered at no cost to the patient and their partner. Space is limited.
