Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery


Kim Seifert, RN, BSN, Cleft Care Coordinator

Ms. Seifert has been the Clinic Coordinator at the Johns Hopkins Cleft & Craniofacial Center since 1998. From 1997 to 2000, Ms. Seifert coordinated the Mid-Atlantic Oral Cleft Research Study on the environmental and genetic causes of cleft lip and palate. She was the 1999 winner of the Donna Pruzansky Memorial Fund Award from the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, a competitive grant for nurses devoted to the care of patients with cleft lip/palate and other craniofacial anomalies. Ms. Seifert earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 1997. She is a 1993 graduate of Lafayette College. In 2010, she accompanied Dr. Redett on a medical mission to Peru to treat children with cleft lip and palate.

Ms. Litzinger is Administrative Assistant and Medical Office Coordinator for Dr. Richard Redett and Dr. Jordan Steinberg. Prior to joining the Department of Pediatric Plastic Surgery, Ms. Litzinger worked in the Transplant Surgery Department at Johns Hopkins Bayview.

Melinda "Nina" DeSell, CRNP

Ms. DeSell is the pediatric nurse practitioner in the department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She is responsible for evaluating and treating the children at the Hopkins cleft clinic. Ms DeSell earned her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Post-Masters Certificate at Johns Hopkins University, her Masters of Science: Maternal-Child Health at the University of Maryland, and her Bachelor’s of Science: Nursing at Lynchburg College of Virginia. She holds certifications with Pediatric Nursing Certification Board as well as the Maryland State Board of Nursing. She was awarded the Kalynn Quinn Hensley Lectureship 2010 for her presentation on EXIT Procedure for CHAOS.

Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology


Kathy Ferguson, CCP-SLP, Speech-Language Pathology

Ms. Ferguson, speech-language pathologist, is the Assistant Director of the Speech-Language Department at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is responsible for general assessments for children and young adults at the Hopkins Cleft Clinic, including nasoendoscopy. Ms. Ferguson earned a Master of Science in Speech Pathology from Ithaca College, and Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing from State University College of New York at Plattsburgh. She holds a Maryland License in Speech-Language Pathology and a Certificate in Clinical Competence (C.C.C.) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.

Edward Ginsburg, DDS

Steven Marc Siegel, DMD

Dr. Siegel has been in private practice in orthodontics in Baltimore since 1988. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland's Dental School. Dr. Siegel earned a Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey, and a D.M.D., Magna Cum Laude, from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He studied Histology and Biochemistry at New York University, and received a B.A. in Biology from Brooklyn College. He is past president of the Maryland State Society of Orthodontists and currently chairs its Education Committee.
