Anadolu Medical Center opened in 2005 as a nonprofit organization financed by Anadolu Foundation, an arm of the multinational Anadolu Group. The 209-bed acute care hospital includes center of excellence programs in cardiology, neurological sciences, oncology and women’s health. Anadolu Medical Center’s vision is to be a full-continuum, specialty-focused health care provider recognized as the best in Turkey, southern Eurasia and the Middle East.

About Our Agreement

Johns Hopkins Medicine International has worked with Anadolu Foundation since 2001, initially to develop a new acute care hospital that offers patients a full continuum of medical services. Following the hospital’s construction, Anadolu Medical Center engaged Johns Hopkins Medicine International in a 10-year affiliation agreement for services in: 

  • Architectural and engineering design review
  • Capital equipment purchase consulting 
  • Information technology systems consulting
  • Clinical quality and improvement 
  • Operations development and integration
  • Joint Commission International accreditation preparation
  • Clinical program development
  • Educational observerships at The Johns Hopkins Hospital
  • Human resources management/clinical and administrative training
  • Joint clinical conferences
  • Two-year nursing development initiative
  • Participation in Armstrong Institute patient safety programs

Anadolu Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Medicine International signed another 10-year affiliation agreement, extending services through 2026, with a focus on clinical quality and patient safety, clinical program development and knowledge transfer.

Points of Pride

  • Recognized as first and only center in Turkey to achieve gold-level Planetree Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care (2019) 
  • Earned distinction as first and only cancer center in Turkey to obtain accreditation by the Organization of European Institutes (2018)
  • Accredited as the European Society for Medical Oncology Designated Center of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care (2007)  
  • Held joint physician conferences in emergency medicine and preparedness, disease management, bone marrow transplant and urology-oncology
  • Offered observerships at Johns Hopkins Medicine in general surgery, supply chain, nurse education, risk management, finance and oncology nursing 
  • Conducted assessments to expand services in breast imaging, radiation, nursing, cancer care, pathology and palliative care
  • Provided leadership guidance for Anadolu’s  chief medical officer, chief quality officer and chief nursing officer
  • Appointed a Johns Hopkins chief executive officer and chief nursing officer 
  • Launched initiative to elevate nursing skills, knowledge and influence 
  • Nominated as finalist for the 2006 Urban Land Institute Award for Excellence
