Summary

Efforts towards an HIV cure have highlighted the interindividual variability in the HIV reservoir and immune responses and have identified sex and age as potential drivers of these differences. In this proposal, we query the impact of key moments across the lifespan including pregnancy, the menopausal transition, and aging with detailed longitudinal characterization of the reservoir and immune phenotype in a cohort of Ugandans living with HIV. These studies will address important gaps in knowledge about reservoir and immune dynamics particularly relevant to the optimization of cure interventions in women living with non-B subtypes of HIV.
