Summary
People living with HIV (PLWH) are at increased risk of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, but do not uniformly develop protective immune responses to traditional HBV vaccines. A potent new vaccine against HBV was shown to be highly effective in PLWH. This project will dissect immune cell characteristics that improve vaccine responses in PLWH and assess the effects of vaccination on the HIV reservoir, the barrier to HIV cure.
