IHS-EtHE National IWTK Expansion

Summary

In the United States, including across Native communities, venue-based testing for STI/HIV infection is the norm. However, significant barriers to venue-based STI/HIV testing exist for racial/ethnic minorities, including American Indian/Alaska Natives (AI/AN), and in particular rural populations. These barriers include inconvenience (time, location, transportation), confidentiality concerns, and fear of social stigmatization. The website I Want The Kit (IWTK) (iwantthekit.org), developed by Johns Hopkins University provides confidential, home-based access to STI/HIV testing. The overarching goal of this award is to help End the HIV Epidemic (EtHE) by expanding the very successful IWTK model to AI/AN communities living in all 50 states across the US.
