Summary
Alcohol intake is associated with adverse Tuberculosis (TB) treatment outcomes. We propose to assess whether an alcohol reduction approach can affect factors important in TB treatment outcomes: TB drug levels, adherence to TB drugs and biological pathways related to gut microbiome and metabolism. This study will supplement the goals of the parent study, which aims to test whether reducing alcohol intake can improve treatment outcomes, while informing on the potential role of biological mediators.
