Why hospital medicine? Cool experience with the hospitalist PA I shadowed before getting in PA school. I like starting out with broad differentials initially, seeing what the consults say, and following the case from start to finish. I also found the teamwork refreshing as it takes a lot of coordination from admission to discharge for good continuity of care.

What are your interests outside of hospital medicine? Family medicine, Emergency medicine.

What is your favorite thing about Baltimore? I have to explore the city more, but I enjoyed an Orioles game at Camden yards years ago.

What is your favorite quote?

"Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful." - Joshua J. Marine

Arielle Holliday

Arielle Holliday

Hometown: Baltimore, MD
PA School: The George Washington University

Why hospital medicine? I love the challenges and complexities that hospital medicine provides. Being the overseeing provider for the patient forces me to stay knowledgeable and up to date about many different diseases/disorders and how best to treat them. I enjoy collaborating with different members of the healthcare team and when we can produce the best outcome for the patient, I feel that I have done my job well.

What are your interests outside of hospital medicine? Going to concerts, shows, and museums, traveling, and reading.

What is your favorite thing about Baltimore? There is so much to do in Baltimore and I can get to the DC area in about an hour. I love to shop and eat, so there are plenty of places to do that here, both local and large chain. And crab cakes and steamed crabs don't taste the same anywhere else!

What is your favorite quote?

"It always seems impossible until it's done." - Nelson Mandela

Why hospital medicine? I enjoy working in a collaborative environment, utilizing a broad knowledge base to solve complex problems, and being a source of compassion for patients experiencing the hardship of acute illness and hospitalization.

What are your interests outside of hospital medicine? Sports (golf, hockey, running), yoga and music.

What is your favorite thing about Baltimore? Baltimore supports my hobbies (good sports, music scene) and has great running options especially along the waterfront.

What is your favorite quote?

"There is no finish line."

Sarah Rim

Sarah Rim

Hometown: Newberg, Oregon
PA School: Idaho State University

Why hospital medicine? I am inspired by the reach an inpatient provider can have with the interdisciplinary teamwork of allied health in investigating and aiding all aspects of a patient's well-being. There is also a culture of urgency and criticalities in this setting to treat a diverse population with an array of conditions/illnesses that engenders a motivating growth in a provider.

What are your interests outside of hospital medicine? Hiking, international travel, baking, history.

What is your favorite thing about Baltimore? I am new to Baltimore, but truly appreciate the cultural diversity.

What is your favorite quote?

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." - Aesop
