Welcome to the Johns Hopkins Medicine Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) Program, where our dedicated multidisciplinary team of specialists provides comprehensive care and advanced treatment options for patients with CTEPH. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures personalized and effective management of this complex condition.
Our mission is to deliver exceptional care through innovative treatment strategies, cutting-edge research, and patient-centered services. We are committed to improving the quality of life for individuals living with CTEPH.
What is CTEPH?
Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare form of pulmonary hypertension caused by chronic blood clots in the lungs. These clots block the pulmonary arteries, leading to increased blood pressure and strain on the heart.
Symptoms:
- Shortness of breath
- Fatigue
- Chest pain
- Dizziness or fainting
- Swelling in the ankles or legs
Evaluating and Diagnosing CTEPH involves a series of tests, including:
- Echocardiography
- Pulmonary Function Testing
- CT Scan
- Ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) scan
- Right Heart Catheterization
- Pulmonary angiography
Why choose Johns Hopkins?
