Teen Advisory Council

The Teen Advisory Council (TAC) at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital welcomes you to become a member!

The purpose of the Teen Advisory Council (TAC) is to provide a voice for teens to enhance the patient experience by making recommendations to improve the quality of care an service for all patients at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.

What We Do

TAC members volunteer their time to meet with Child Life Specialists to develop practical ideas that empower teens to become more involved in making decisions regarding their own care and preferences for services.

Teen Advisory Council members give feedback on topics that include:

  • Customizing the patient experience at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital
  • Making the transition from teen to adult care
  • Creating a teen-friendly environment at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital

Teen Advisory Council accomplishments from the past year include:

  • Made menu changes and additions to the patient menu. More gluten-free items, items for vegetarians
  • Worked with the Adolescent Medicine Physicians to add educational resources that would be interesting to teen patients in the "Teen Lounge" of the waiting area.
  • Encouraged child life specialists and child life techs to provide more adolescent appropriate activities on the cart that volunteers bring through the units and offered in the activity center.
  • Edited the Teen Advisory Council to make it "eye catching."
  • Held several panels to offer insight to medical residents on how to meet the patients' needs and what they can do to make a patient's stay better.
