Vice President of Human Resources, National Capital Region, Johns Hopkins Health System

Susan is the vice president of human resources for the National Capital Region (NCR), Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS). She joined the NCR with more than 20 years of human resources experience. In this role, Susan leads human resources strategies and programs for both Sibley and Suburban Hospitals, and collaborates with leadership to enhance workplace culture, create pathways for employee development and promote employee health and wellness. 

Prior to joining the NCR in January 2026, Susan was the vice president of human resources at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC) since 2024. She became a valuable member of the JHBMC executive team and implemented comprehensive human resources strategies and programs. 

Before joining JHHS, Susan served as divisional chief human resources officer at Duke Primary Care, part of Duke University Healthcare System, as well as Mission Health and Target. She holds a bachelor of science degree in communications from East Carolina University. 

Susan has a reputation for driving internal and external customer satisfaction and building cohesive teams. Her previous human resources leadership roles at Mission Health and Target have helped her develop expertise in leadership and organizational development, employee relations, talent acquisition, resiliency and employee engagement.
