Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer, The Johns Hopkins Hospital

Scott Bearrows is the vice president of finance and chief financial officer for The Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH), where he oversees the financial management of the hospital’s clinical, administrative and support services. Working in close partnership with hospital leadership, Bearrows provides financial oversight and budgeting guidance to ensure that JHH is well-positioned to provide extraordinary care — and to grow to meet the future needs of patients in Baltimore and around the globe.

Bearrows joined JHH in 2024 as executive director of finance, and played a key role in unifying financial operations across the hospital into a single, integrated department, creating a centralized source for financial planning, communication and implementation of new programs and initiatives.

Before coming to Johns Hopkins, Bearrows spent more than 11 years at Duke University Hospital, most recently serving as director of finance. He joined Duke as a financial analyst and progressed through multiple roles of increasing responsibility. During his tenure, Bearrows supported several major hospital initiatives, including development of a new inpatient bed tower, creation of a contribution margin model for a heart services collaboration with another regional health system, and implementation of enterprise-wide margin improvement efforts. He also served on the board of directors for the Duke Triangle Endoscopy Center.

Earlier in his career, Bearrows worked as an auditor with Grant Thornton LLP, serving public and privately held clients across the financial services, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, technology and retail sectors.

Bearrows holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
