Patricia Skillin, M.I.D.

Director, Global Services

Patricia Skillin

Patricia (Patti) Skillin currently serves as regional director for the Americas in the Global Services division of Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHMI). She oversees JHMI’s collaborations and affiliations throughout the region and leads business development efforts in the Americas, helping to develop sustainable and innovative collaborations that elevate the quality and standard of care delivery. She has more than 15 years of experience working in health care projects, health systems strengthening and relationship management in the Americas. Skillin has worked in nine different countries throughout the region — from Central America to the Southern Cone — and has successfully collaborated with governments, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), international organizations, and private sector partners over the course of her career. Her breadth of experience covers projects that have supported rural primary care clinics in Central America to leading targeted knowledge transfer activities for clinical program development in private tertiary care facilities.

Prior to her time at JHMI, Skillin worked as the South and Central America program officer at Global Links, a Pittsburgh-based medical relief NGO. In that role, she conducted health facility needs assessments and partnered with other NGOs, Ministries of Health, and the Pan American Health Organization to deliver custom donations of medical supplies and equipment. She also worked as a consultant for the regional headquarters office of the Pan American Health Organization in Washington, D.C., where she facilitated strategic planning and alignment across the organization with its 27 country offices. Her efforts led to the development of a web-based platform for the sharing and documentation of best practices in health cooperation across countries.

Skillin earned a master's degree in international development from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University, with a double major in sociology and Latin American studies. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese.
