Perioperative and Procedural Services
Matthew Tovornik, P.T., M.B.A., is the Executive Director of Perioperative and Procedural Services at Suburban Hospital. In this role, Tovornik oversees many day-to-day operations of the hospital, including Pre-Operative Testing, Pre-Operative Holding, Operating Room administration, Anesthesia, PACU, SPD, PA/SA/NP Services, CVOR, Cath Lab, ECHO/EKG Services, Patient Transportation, and Clinical Engineering. He also leads Suburban’s Orthopedic-Joint Replacement Program, Stroke Program, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Respiratory Therapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation services. Additionally, Tovornik supports capital budgeting and coordination, Emergency Management, Administrator On-Call, and Suburban’s COVID-19 response.
Tovornik has extensive experience in health care operations and the patient care experience. In his nearly 30 years with Suburban, he has served in a series progressively expanding roles, including Clinical Coordinator of Physical Therapy, Director of Rehabilitation and Administrative Director of Operations.
Tovornik has bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University Of Maryland, Baltimore County and an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
