Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, Perioperative Services

Laurie Saletnik is vice president, chief nursing officer, perioperative services, for the Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS).
In this role, Saletnik partners with executives across Johns Hopkins Medicine to provide strategic leadership and oversee integration of all perioperative services for JHHS and at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She leads the planning, development and operational aspects of all perioperative programs and activities, in coordination with administrative, nursing and physician leadership and medical directors, including faculty and staff development, patient- and family-centered care, patient and staff education and integration with other academic departments, and value-based care.
Saletnik has worked in perioperative services for more than 40 years, and has served in several leadership roles with the health system, including associate chief nursing officer for perioperative services for JHHS, where she developed and implemented nursing strategic plans, objectives and standards in all health system-wide perioperative services areas, and led processes that support high-quality perioperative nursing and allied health clinical practices.
She has also served in roles at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, including senior director of nursing for perioperative services, assistant director of nursing for the hospital’s department of surgery and operating room manager.
In addition to her work at the hospital, Saletnik has served as a course instructor at the school of nursing, and she is editor-in-chief of the AORN Journal. She has consulted both nationally and internationally, and has presented in numerous professional forums. She was also inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
Saletnik earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice and her master’s degree in nursing from The Johns Hopkins University. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.
