Chief Operating Officer

Jill Kearney drives Johns Hopkins Medicine International’s growth, collaborating with its leadership team and with Johns Hopkins Medicine leaders to develop financial and operational goals and direct the plans and policies that enable the organization to reach those goals. She oversees Johns Hopkins Medicine International’s Core Services division, as well as the operations of the Patient Services and Global Services divisions. Johns Hopkins Medicine International serves as the global ambassador of the Johns Hopkins Medicine mission, leveraging its extensive knowledge base in medicine, nursing, public health, medical education, research and health care administration to deliver medicine across the globe.

Ms. Kearney previously served as senior administrator and assistant dean of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where she was responsible for financial performance and improvements, including driving efficiency and maintaining a budget surplus. She worked closely with The Johns Hopkins Hospital/Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center chief operating officer to integrate key programs such as endoscopy, finance and sleep medicine. She collaborated with Johns Hopkins Bayview leadership to expand the Center for Innovative Medicine, improve research infrastructure and recruit top faculty as new leaders.

Prior to that position, she was the division administrator for infectious diseases at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. There, she identified business opportunities, justified investments and implemented new clinical, educational and research initiatives, presiding over a 25 percent growth in grant and alternate revenue. She also managed all financial lines of business, overseeing a $4 million improvement through cost reduction, process improvement and revenue growth.

Ms. Kearney also served as director of planning and evaluation for the City University of New York, handling strategic planning, financial oversight and project management with partners including the New York City Council and Goldman Sachs. Before that, she co-founded and served as assistant director of the New Mission Pilot High School in Boston, securing the city and state funding necessary to open the school and managing student and parent relations, the annual budget and recruitment, and developing curricula and programs.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College, a master’s degree in ethics and education from Harvard Divinity/Harvard Graduate School of Education and a master’s degree in business administration from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School — all magna cum laude.
