Christal Moore

Christal Moore, a native of Donalsonville, Georgia, where she graduated in 2001 as the school’s first African American valedictorian. She also earned a degree in biomedical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a dual master’s degree in business administration and health administration from Georgia State University.

While completing her graduate studies, Moore worked as an internal medicine practice manager in Atlanta. In 2007, she entered the Johns Hopkins Health System postgraduate administrative fellowship program. She is a Lean Sigma Green Belt, certified through the Johns Hopkins Medicine Center for Innovation in Quality Patient Care.

After her fellowship, she worked in various roles during her 12-year career at Johns Hopkins Medicine. She was the Operating Room business manager for perioperative services at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, followed by assistant administrator for the Department of Surgery at Johns Hopkins University, and finally the administrator for the Department of Surgery at Johns Hopkins Bayview.

Most recently, Moore held the position of executive administrator for the Department of Surgery at UAB Medicine, where she was the administrative leader for a 130-plus department faculty, a 500-member staff and a more than $70 million budget.
