Atul Rohatgi, M.D., has served as a member of the Suburban Hospital medical staff since joining as a hospitalist in 2004. Since that time, he has worked with patients, clinicians and team members on Suburban’s medical/surgical units, as well as on the ICU during the pandemic. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Rohatgi helped to build and shape Suburban’s hospitalist team, embedding hospitalists and the medical staff voice throughout various committees and workgroups. He also established the hospitalist program at the National Institutes of Health.

As the Interim Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA) and Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Rohatgi guides Suburban’s ongoing system integration work on safety, quality and performance improvement, as well as our work to engrain high-reliability organization principles at Suburban Hospital and throughout the Johns Hopkins Health System’s National Capital Region. In addition to his responsibilities as Interim VPMA/CMO, Dr. Rohatgi leads the hospitalist programs at Suburban, Sibley Memorial and Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center hospitals.

Dr. Rohatgi is a two-time recipient of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Clinical Excellence Awards and a 2022 Johns Hopkins Community Physicians Academy of Clinical Excellence Inductee. He received his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine, where he completed a residency in internal medicine, and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
