Amy Ranier, M.P.M.
Vice President, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer

Amy Ranier is the vice president and chief marketing and communications officer for Johns Hopkins Medicine. In this role, she leads all marketing and communications functions, including brand strategy, performance marketing and strategic communications plan development.
Ranier has more than 20 years of experience as a consumer-centric and data-driven leader, using her understanding of consumer and stakeholder needs to inform strategies to improve communications, marketing, product development and overall experience across multiple industries.
Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Ranier served as the senior vice president for marketing and communications at Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), a leading academic health system in Boston. At BILH, she led all marketing and communications, advising entity presidents and business units on strategic communications and marketing strategies. In this role, Ranier oversaw strategy, design and execution of all employee communications, marketing initiatives, media relations, reputation management, crisis communications, digital tools, graphic design and social media.
Prior to BILH, Ranier spent 13 years at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), leading web strategy, patient communications, consumer engagement and patient experience. She also managed operational and quality initiatives for the Wolff Center at UPMC to improve patient experience and shared decision-making, and she served as senior director of The Beckwith Institute, which provides grants to further health care research and innovation.
Ranier earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and French from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, and a master’s degree in public management from Carnegie Mellon University.
