Commencement/Convocation Ceremonies
Please note: The SOM convocation ceremony will be held this year on Friday, May 22, 2009 while the University-wide ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009.
The SOM convocation ceremony will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall located at 1212 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, Maryland. Tickets are not required for this ceremony.
This year's speaker is Denton A. Cooley, M.D.
- President Emeritus, Texas Heart Institute
- Surgeon-in-Chief, Texas Heart Institute
- 1944 graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Rev. Uwe Scharf, Director of Pastoral Care to give the invocation and benediction at the ceremony.
Please note: The Meyerhoff does not allow balloons in the venue.
The University-wide commencement ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. on the Homewood field of the Homewood campus. It is anticipated that there will be unlimited seating available for this ceremony.

Note: Ph.D. candidates will wear their hoods to and receive their diplomas during the University-wide ceremony. M.A., M.D. and M.S. candidates will receive their diplomas and hoods during the SOM convocation ceremony. M.D. students are recognized individually during the University-wide ceremony. All candidates will be hooded as part of the SOM ceremony.
Regalia
Orders for regalia were due to the Registrar's Office by March 6, 2009. The order sites are now closed.

Regalia will be available for pick up from the Broadway Research Building, Room 181, 733 North Broadway, School of Medicine on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Attendance at Ceremonies
Attendance information for both ceremonies was due to the Registrar's Office by March 6, 2009 for M.D. candidates and by February 20, 2009 for M.A., M.S. and Ph.D. candidates. The attendance forms are no longer avaiable online.

Announcements
School of Medicine Announcements - SOM will provide each graduate with up to 10 announcements for the Meyerhoff ceremony. Announcements will be available during cap and gown distribution.
